I’m a regular viewer of colbert’s show, and I generally liked this segment (as well as countless others). However, this one did disturb me a bit with the blackface, as it shows the limitations to satire. When it’s sharp and well-done it’s magical, but when it’s sloppy it can totally backfire. That said, it was pretty good. I still have my reservations with his and Stewart’s shows, however, given their allegiances to the advertisers (while trying to make us think they’re poking fun at them).
I on the other hand did not feel disturbed. The context and manner of what Colbert was trying to do was very good and on point.
