Over at the Dailykos blog MInistryofTruth reproduces many many of the racist images that have targeted President Obama just in his brief seven months as president. Like this one circulated by one Republican operative.
.
And this dailykos blog piece does not even go into the reality that the N-word and Obama appear no less than 433,000 times in a Google search right now. Or the many racist websites that Jessie has discussed the most so far by any scholar in her new book on Cyber Racism. Many right-wing, overwhelmingly white politicos seem to be openly racializing their attacks on President Obama in attempts to bring down his presidency and further polarize the country. If memory serves, I have not seen this level of open and blatantly racist viciousness since the anti-civil-rights movements of the 1950s and 1960s.
And yet we have many scholars and commentators still trying to argue for a “post-racial America.” Denial of reality seems to be part of the soft and hard versions of the white racial frame — indeed from its beginning in the 17th century.
This scares me: at 2:43 EST Van Jones, Obama’s advisor resigned amid a host of vicious Republican attacks: WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama’s adviser Van Jones has resigned amid controversy over past inflammatory statements, the White House said early Sunday.
Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly “green jobs” with the White House Council on Environmental Issues.
The poor man probably couldn’t take it anymore! Who could? I mentioned before on another thread that I thought it was Atrocious that people were allowed to bring long range rifles to town hall meetings where President Obama was appearing. The article I read said that these men were behind chain link fences and not actually in the hall. The “distance” between them and the President was considered “acceptable” by security experts. What? This has never been allowed with any other president! I also read people saying, “This is an accident waiting to happen!” Yeah..ya got that right!
I was in elementary school during the Civil Rights Movement, but I knew what was going on.WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT IS HAPPENING TODAY IN AMERICA. I’ve never seen such an open attack on a political figure since white people attacked Martin Luther King. This is extremely frightening and I think a race riot is brewing..with the entire country {black and white} taking up arms.
I can hardly blame Van Jones for resigning, but I really wish he hadn’t. This will merely encourage the Republicans to go after President Obama with renewed vigor.
Also, that photo above of President Obama is very sad. He’s such a kind, good-hearted person {to me}. I feel more affection and good feeling toward him than any president we’ve ever had in my personal history. Plus, I think Michelle is the classiest lady to Ever hit Washington DC. This is so cruel and heartless. Please could we all say a prayer for President Obama? I know this may sound a little cheesy..but could we please do this?
Van Jones is Black by the way:

“Howard Dean, former head of the Democratic National Committee, told “Fox News Sunday” that he thought Jones “was brought down” and that his resignation was “a loss to the country.”
Jones said he has been “inundated with calls from across the political spectrum urging me to stay and fight.” But he said he could not in good conscience ask his colleagues to spend time and energy defending or explaining his past.
Jones said in an earlier statement that he did not agree with the petition’s stand on the Sept. 11 attacks and that “it certainly does not reflect my views, now or ever.”
As for his other comments he made before joining Obama’s team, Jones said, “If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize.”
Despite his apologies, Republicans demanded Jones quit. ”
Apparently Glenn Beck, who everybody with a brain Honestly thinks is a psychotic, has been criticizing Van Jones for months and I guess Beck’s rantings paid off? Insanity.
Ellen, I agree on the resignation point. It is sad that Van Jones resigned, and that Obama folks put pressure on him doubtless. This nonsense is clearly moving the country backwards in this now post-post racial society.
Joe Said: “This nonsense is clearly moving the country backwards in this now post-post racial society.”
I think that’s Exactly what white right-wingers {and probably many non-partisan whites} are attempting to do. The reality of a black president is Sinking In and whites are reacting..many times irrationally. Plus, the irony is Obama’s governing From the Middle from what I see. He’s not favoring any particular group, but trying desperately just to keep racial peace!
The picture is an absolute disgrace, regarding, the “President of the Untied States of America” Who posts this kind of stuff? I would think something should be done..There is NO/ZERO respect anymore for the LEADERS of this country…And, as time goes on, there will be less.. Parents cannot correct their children, since the 1980’s. The first thing they teach them in school is how to call Social Service. Lack of authority in the home, school, and in the public. I am getting annoyed with it, and I am real glad that I taught my kids better. My sons are great, in comparison, to most of the brats walking the streets today, and if I heard of them disrespecting anyone, I would be the one they answered to. I get many compliments about my boys from other people, in general… Nice boys you have. Really, do you want to see the gray hair that goes with it. Society plays an instrumental role in how our youth respects and perceives authority, as well. There is entirely too much negative images getting into the minds of our youth from radio, TV, and internet. And, I don’t want to hear it’s all the the parents fault that is complete BS.. Sorry, but sometimes when I think about all the garbage going around, I stop and have to think, no wonder we have so many problems with our youth and society as a whole. Brainwashing at it’s finest. Lack of respect at it finest. Van Jones made a statement regarding the Columbine school kids. He was talking about how the “white” Columbine kids killed those students and teachers and that “black” kids would never do something like that, but yet, he did admit, they shoot at each other.. (I wonder were these kids come up with those ideas) Video Games The best thing for the Obama Administration is to stay out of racial issues in this country. Sorry, as mentioned before, people expect too much from one man, and as a human being, I feel really bad for him.. People need to leave him alone and let him do his job for Pete sake! Not in a very good mood today sorry..MOM
