As Jennifer Mueller noted here earlier this month, Glenn Beck is organizing a rally tomorrow in D.C. on the anniversary of the March on Washington. Beck’s goal is to co-opt Dr. King’s legacy. The folks at Brave New Films have made a short (2:16) video mashup that highlights the not-MLK-ness of Glenn Beck:
Brave New Films has also organized an online petition, which you can sign here.
It would’ve been better had they used clips from other parts of his speech:
If the left is gonna make a dent for justice, both racial and social, we’re gonna have to get conservatives off the only line of the speech they seem to be able to remember.
In fact, other speeches were made that day. We need to get them off “Martin Luther Santa Clause.”
they took everything glenn beck had to say out of context. why dont you just make it fair and hear what the man has to say and you would realize that his message is almost the same as martin luther kings. not to mention the fact the kings niece will be speaking with beck at the rally. this unfounded hatred towards beck makes me think this video has a political message and not one of racism.
Could you list out some of Beck’s more important points he’ll be making?
